COLORADO NINETY-NINES

"Flight without Fear"

Overcome your Fear of Flying

'Flight Without Fear' courses in the Denver, Colorado area are presented by the Colorado Chapter of the Ninety-Nines, Inc. (The International Organization of Women Pilots) and FRONTIER AIRLINES.

The next class will be scheduled soon for the spring of 2010

This course is designed to help individuals who want or need to fly but are afraid. The goal of the 'Flight Without Fear' program is to overcome the physical and emotional reactions - fear and anxiety - felt by fearful flyers as a result of previously learned experiences.

APPROACH
The approach we use combines four primary components:

Education - Includes aerodynamics, weather, safety, air crew qualifications, a tour of Frontier Airlines' training & aircraft maintenance facilities, and a visit to an Air Traffic Control facility. Please note that a current US passport may be required to visit some of these locations.

Systematic desensitization - This process involves approaching the feared situation in systematic steps designed to eliminate fears, such as fear of airplanes, closed places and heights.

Relaxation - Entails the elimination of muscular tension by tensing and relaxing the muscles thereby blocking the body's physical reaction to fear.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy - Recognizing and changing negative thoughts and maladaptive beliefs.

As we work with a licensed psychotherapist, many insurance companies will pay for the course. Also some companies will reimburse an employee for the cost of the class if their job requires traveling.

Spring class dates to be announced.
Classes are on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 7:30 pm for eight weeks. A graduation flight and brunch will be scheduled later.

The cost of the next class will be determined later. It includes books, handouts, transportation for field trips, and the graduation flight and brunch. Classes are limited to 16 new participants.

Classes are held at Frontier Airlines General Offices:
Frontier Center One
7001 Tower Rd
Denver, CO 80249-7312

Pre-Course Orientations
The orientations are informal meetings that describe the course and answer any questions potential students may have. Held just prior to each course, the orientations allow students to learn about the course in an informal, relaxed setting. At these meetings you will be able to meet some of the staff and other students. You will also meet some of our former students who continue to fly and come back to encourage you.

Attendance at one of the pre-course orientation meetings is required. Exceptions will be made on a case by case basis.
